London’s Smart West End
Tucked behind Piccadilly, you can still see the site of the original “May Fair”, but Mayfair is now home to some of London’s smartest hotels, clubs, restaurants, auction rooms, art galleries and shops. Its Georgian elegance is retained in its fine squares, large and small, with lofty trees, monuments, fountains and sculptures. Royalty and aristocracy lived here and famous names include chemists Sir Humphry Davy and Michael Faraday, musicians Georg Friedrich Händel and Jimi Hendrix and fashion designers Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney and of course James Bond!
