Garden in the Olympic Park

London’s Newest Park

A two-year planting programme created the UK’s largest new urban park for more than a century. 100 hectares of the 2012 Olympic Park was transformed into the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Thousands of semi-mature trees, wetland plants, nectar-rich annual and perennial meadows and bulbs were planted. New bridges and benches, the 2012 Gardens, arranged by Continent, the Great British Garden and a new network of walkways, cycle paths and roads were built.

In 2015, the Orchard Project was founded in Mandeville Place and in 2021 London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, opened London’s first Blossom Garden. The Blossom Garden commemorates the Victims of the Covid-19 pandemic an is a tribute to the ongoing role played by our Key Workers.
