The Round Chapel

Horticulture, Theatre & Sport

Hackney — site of London’s first purpose-built theatre, where Shakespeare performed, and Alfred Hitchcock’s film studios. Harold Pinter and Bob Hoskins grew up in Hackney and Michael Caine spent some time here. Hackney is still famous for Music Hall theatres — bijou and grand — trendy bars, restaurants and clubs. You will also find London’s Circus School here.

Sample Hackney’s horticultural history at the Museum of the Home, learn about the botanic garden which once rivalled Kew, enjoy hidden gardens and London’s first purpose-built public park.

Take a look at London’s newest public park, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
